Evony was launched in 2009 and was previously titled “Civony” before it gained much popularity. Although Evony had some interesting advertising tactics that consisted mainly of boobs and phallic allusions, the game itself was pretty fun although devoid of boobs.
However, not long after the game was launched it was plainly evident that the game had some major fall-backs in design that should have been thought out more thoroughly. What fall-backs does Evony have you wonder? Well just to name a few:
- The game servers never reset and there is no end-game, so they just goes on and on forever while servers get harder and harder for new players to succeed. Then servers just go stagnant.
- The more enemy troops you kill, the more “honor” you get. The more honor you have, the less of your troops you can heal. This may sound fine and all until new players realize that older players with high-level heroes can drop their honor to zero with almost zero effort, while new players are stuck with their honor. (So basically, new players are punished/handicapped for being good and killing enemy troops.)
- There have been numerous glitches found throughout the years that allow players to gain free resources by doing some method of shenanigans. (One had something to do with attacking a valley to get millions of resources when only a few thousand should have been gained.)
- The game is easily automated with bots, and at least 7 major bots have been released to the public. (EvoBot, AutoEvony, YAEB, NEATbot, the0bot, RE Bot, and Dixey)
- If your prestige hits 2,147,483,647 it just resets to zero. (Only botters will hit this limit, unless years go by or a prestige glitch is exploited)
- If your food hits 1,000,000,000,000 it just resets to zero. (Same as prestige roll-over, only botters will hit this number)
Because of all the problems with Evony, I decided to compile a list of games like Evony. I will use it to refer people to when they are frustrated with the shitty state of Evony and want to find a new game to play that is similar.
