Evony Farming – Farm Hub

What is an "Evony Farm Hub"? A Farm Hub (a.k.a.: "Collector City" or "Resource City") is a base that holds large sums of resources and is funded by several farm cities.  This city often doubles as a treb city and placed next to a player.  The concept of the hub is simple.  While other farming bases feeding the hub have little or no defense this base should be the exact opposite. This is a location that has all your resources and the last spot you want to get plundered.  You are managing risk by having all resources in one location and ideally saving troop upkeep costs as you can defend the city with much more troops then just an average farm city and still cost less.  You will defend this base at all costs through defending, trucing, holidaying and porting.

A Farm Hub (a.k.a.: "Collector City" or "Resource City") is a base that holds large sums of resources and is funded by several farm cities.

Something that is often overlooked when creating a hub is the natural surroundings, yet this is often one of the most important things.  If you scan the map even for a short period of time you can find plenty of locations to make a hub.  Rather then looking for the best farm spots you are looking for just the opposite.  You want a spot with lots of valleys and little or no flats/npcs around it.  Having no direct npcs or flats next to you is ideal.  Here is an example of a single hub location.

Evony Farming Resource HUB

One of the best assets you may have as well, are your friends and neighbors that aren’t very reliable at playing.

Those are the best people to enjoy this game with, especially if they reach knight and never go above 1 city.  Your flaky friends can create an even more distance from you and potential enemies as long as they log in from time to time and don’t get their accounts deleted.

Defending your Farm Hub:

If you have picked a good location for your hub and recruited unreliable friends you should have a 2-3+ mile buffer around your hub.  This means 8+ mins per mile for mech waves.  The most reliable passive defense would be mech defense.  Keep in mind this defense takes time to break down if someone has the knowledge but probably the biggest advantage is it is very scout dependent.  Assuming you have a lot of scouts this will deter your average attacker from even trying.  Most dislike attacking unless they are 1 mile away and especially if they cant get a report.  All of which will buy you valuable time.

Evony Farming Resource Dual HUB

If you are looking for a location that you could have your hub/treb city next to an actual player you would be looking for something like this.  Remember you are looking for as much spacing as possible.  You do not want other players to be capable to “cap” a city directly next to you.  As in the above example we have also found a location we can make into a hub/treb city to work with a player.

In conclusion, if you are doing everything correctly you will have several farm cities with very little resources for plundering.  You will have these cities maximizing resources and then shipping and ending up at your hub.  Your hub should be heavily guarded and in a safe location.  While you can have the peace of mind to ignore attacks against farm locations you defend your hub by any means.  Your hub should be the easiest to defend as it’s set up defensively.  Having a great hub city and all the cities supporting it will give you massive amounts of resources and help you make a name for yourself on your server.

Evony Farming – Farming Valleys for Medals: Justice, Nation, Rose and the rest!

Okay, so ever since the first Evony Super Server merge, drop rates of medals have all been screwed to hell in this MMORTS. Medals are not only needed to promote to a higher rank, but also to hire captured heroes. So it does suck that Evony medals are so hard to get, but here's some tricks that may help:

Farming Level 9 and 10 Evony Valleys for Medals with Low Losses

  • To get started, you will need about 30k archers per valley that you plan to farm, and you should farm at least 4 valleys at a time, so a spare 120k archers will do. You will also need a few thousand warriors, a couple pikeman and swordsman, and up to 20k cavalry if you decide to farm the valleys that have archers in them.
  • You will also want to make sure your Evony city's feasting hall is FULL while medal farming because if you capture a hero your chances of getting a medal greatly fall.
  • You will want to attack every valley twice, consecutively, even if you get a medal.  Evony valleys are known to reward medals one after another.
  • Always send 250-500 warriors with your attacks on Evony valleys for prestige gain – Archers cost too much to send extra, so stick to warriors.

Start out by scouting all the level 9 or 10 Evony valleys that you want to farm for medals, I wouldn't go out much farther than 15 miles unless you have to. Depending on what type of troops are in the valley, you will farm with a certain type of your own troops to take minimal losses from the valley. You will want to look for valleys of this sort.

Any combination of the following:

  • Warriors/Pikeman/Swordsmen
  • Archers Only
  • Cavalry with up to 3 other troop types, excluding archers (Archers and cavalry give too many losses to farm)

Depending on what troops the Evony valley holds, you should attack it with a certain layer to minimize your losses:

Level 10 Valley Troops Attack to Send
Warriors/Pikeman/Swordsmen 25k Archers
Archers Only Equal Cavalry (Same as Archers)
Cavalry Only 15k Archers, 10 Pikeman, 10 Swordsman
Cavalry with 2 other Troops 30k Archers, 10 Pikeman, 10 Swordsman
Cavalry with 3 other Troops 30k Archers, 3k Warriors, 10 Pikeman, 10 Swordsman

Level 9 Valley Troops Attack to Send
Warriors/Pikeman/Swordsmen 20k Archers
Archers Only Equal Cavalry (Same as Archers)
Cavalry Only 15k Archers, 10 Pikeman, 10 Swordsman
Cavalry with 2 other Troops 20k Archers, 10 Pikeman, 10 Swordsman
Cavalry with 3 other Troops 25k Archers, 3k Warriors, 10 Pikeman, 10 Swordsman

NOTE: You DO NOT have to conquer an Evony valley to be awarded a medal – you only have to be victorious in the battle.

Justice Medal awarded from Level 9 Valley Super Server 1

(Note: If you notice – the above Evony justice medal was actually awarded from a level 9 valley – July 12th 2011)

Farm Nation Medal Valley

Farming Justice Medal Valley

(Note: Yes, in the above Evony screenshot I broke the rule of not attacking archers and cavalry in a valley at the same time! I was just level 10 valley spamming and wasn't scouting first – 7500 archer losses!! It is a rare to have so many losses from a level 10 valley and still be awarded a good Medal.)

Farming Level 1 – 10 Evony Valleys for Medals, the "Normal Way"!

Here's a list of general farming Layers to hit all level Evony valleys without scouting first to be awarded a medal, you may suffer some losses on high level valleys:

  • Level 1 Valleys: 150 Archers, 1 Worker, 100 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout
  • Level 2 Valleys: 315 Archers, 1 Worker, 100 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout
  • Level 3 Valleys: 625 Archers, 1 Worker, 200 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout
  • Level 4 Valleys: 1250 Archers, 1 Worker, 200 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout
  • Level 5 Valleys: 2500 Archers, 1 Worker, 300 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout
  • Level 6 Valleys: 5k Archers, 1 Worker, 300 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout
  • Level 7 Valleys: 10k Archers, 1 Worker, 400 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout
  • Level 8 Valleys: 15k Archers, 1 Worker, 400 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout
  • Level 9 Velleys: 20k Archers, 1 Worker, 500 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout
  • Level 10 Valleys: 25k Archers, 1 Worker, 500 Warriors, 1 Pike, 1 Sword, 1 Scout

Farming Level 1 – 10 Evony Valleys for Medals, the "Fast Way"!

Here's a list of scout numbers to hit ALL level Evony valleys without scouting first to be awarded medals, you will suffer HEAVY losses on high level valleys:

  • Level 1 Valleys: 5k Scouts
  • Level 2 Valleys: 5k Scouts
  • Level 3 Valleys: 5k Scouts
  • Level 4 Valleys: 10k Scouts
  • Level 5 Valleys: 10k Scouts
  • Level 6 Valleys: 50k Scouts
  • Level 7 Valleys: 50k Scouts
  • Level 8 Valleys: 100k Scouts
  • Level 9 Velleys: 100k Scouts
  • Level 10 Valleys: 100k Scouts

(Note: Farming level 10 Evony flats with the above method is way to get rose medals.)

Extra:

Instead of Farming multiple Evony valleys at once you can pick ONE valley at a time to farm and spam it until you get TWO medals, or one medal and an item, or two items.

To do this, follow these steps:

  • Have all of your Evony heroes home and idle, including your mayor.
  • Have enough troops in your Evony city to launch 8-10 attacks.
  • Make sure you have an OPEN slot in your city town hall for Evony valleys.

Now, Scout nearby Evony valleys like explained earlier in the guide and find the closest valley to your city that has the right kind of troops inside to medal farm. Follow these steps:

  • Launch the Attack at the Evony valley BUT keep the attack screen up.
  • Wait 20 seconds then select another Evony hero and launch the same attack again.
  • Wait 20 seconds then select another Evony hero and launch the same attack again.
  • Wait 20 seconds then select another Evony hero and launch the same attack again.
  • You get the idea… Launch as many attacks as you can at the Evony valley
  • Close the attack screen and wait for the first attack to land on the Evony valley.
  • As soon as the attack lands – ABANDON THE EVONY VALLEY – troops will automatically come home.
  • DO NOT go read attack reports!
  • Keep watching the Evony valley and abandoning it as it is conquered.
  • Once all of the attacks have landed, go to your reports and check all of the valley farming reports for items or medals.

Spamming a Valley to Conquer and Release Medal Farm in Evony

Repeat this process until you are awarded Evony medals and items!

Well that's it for my adaptation to Evony medal farming. Remember – you can use these tactics to farm any level Evony valley for any type of medal! All you need to do is figure out the LEAST amount of archers to send with attack layers in order to just BARELY defeat the troops in the Evony valley with very little to zero losses at all, except maybe one troop of layering dying. Yes, heavy losses can award you Evony medals as well – but that's not smart medal farming is it?? Nope.

This Evony Hookups guide was re-written with inspiration from another older guide at http://bbs.evony.com/showthread.php?t=91602 with adaptations from http://bbs.evony.com/showthread.php?t=113300, as well as other guides. It is meant for the newer Evony servers as well as "super servers". I hope you've found this Evony guide useful – if so, please Like! it on Facebook and share it however you can via the Add This! Evony Cities – Building Farm Cities

There is a lot of different tactics on how to farm and how to set up bases, with that said there is not a cookie cutter approach and for best results adjust your farming to the specific situation.  This is just a suggestion as many different variations have been tried but this was found to work best for myself.  Paying close attention to the small details over several cities makes a massive difference.

Fields

Evony Farming Field Setup

This may seem like quite an obvious thing to do but you’d be surprized how often people dont make their city fields all one resource.  This is about maximizing the valleys and the fields you have.  Fields must all be one resource and you should be actively working to get them all upgraded to level 10.  If you are concerned about population, why?  This is a feeder city.  You should not be loaded up on barracks and population is not a problem.

Another idea to think about is if you are valley farming or constantly “capping” your resources(resources stop producing) that keeping level 10 farms could benefit you more since they do not cap with troops building food.  It is also much more difficult to cap a city with farms and warehouses as you cannot clear the food.

Valleys

Why would you not take valleys to maximize your resources, once again make sure your farm fields are all the same.  One city that is setup well is worth the resources of multiple cities.  You will be taking level 10 valleys of the same type.  Refer to the resources chart and you can get an idea of how much this real means.  The devil is in the details.

Buildings

All non essential buildings should be demo’d.  For an initial 10 build this would include stable, workshop, forge, inn and market.  You are probably wondering why I said both inn and market.  The reason you initially demo both is because there is no reason to have a level 10 inn and a level 10 market.  When you first need heroes you have a level 1 inn so that you can chose heroes with a high base.  After your heroes have been recruited convert it to a level 1 market.  This can be very easily flip flopped in the future and also save a spot. This is what I recommend on other buildings.

Warehouses

They are smart game play and gives you the ability to not defend.  One strong city is better then several weak cities.  Use these to keep your cities alive.  Since to comfort you will need food I would suggest using 85-5-5-5.  This also gives you just enough resources to build a trap/abatis to show up and defend someone suddenly if you choose.

Suggested Main account setup

  • 1-3 Warehouses, at least have one.  If you are facing heat it’s time to make some more.
  • Cottages and barracks, this really depends on your heroes and ability to create troops.  What I would recommend as you transition is do not over your barracks, what this means if archers are the main thing you produce then run something like 8 level 9 barracks and 6 level 4 barracks.  You can easily tear down the level 4s for more cottages as you transition or to make more warehouses when you are under fire.

Suggested Non main account setup

Evony Farming City Setup
  • 12 cottages, give you enough for 40 level 10 fields and enough to easily queue troops.
  • 7 barracks, you don’t need much more then this because this city is for farming, not for building troops.  This many barracks is enough to passively recover farm teams quickly.
  • 6 warehouses, now this seems like overkill right?  That is the entire point.  These warehouses can protect your farm teams when gates are closed from refuging. You can easily comfort with this and your market can get you food long enough to comfort.  Upgrade stockpile all the way, this increases storage capacity of warehouses and your production, this is important!  The next and most major point is nobody is going to invest a lot of time in a city with 6 warehouses after noticing them on a scouting report.  Would you?  I think not.
This is just a suggested way of running and like mentioned before everyone will have their own style but remember this is a farming city.  If you for some reason think you need a lot more barracks then you should probably rethink the purpose of this city.

Heroes

I’ve heard a lot of ways of people doing this but I strongly recruiting heroes with strong bases for a few reasons.  First, maximize your production by running a double queen.  They will alternate in farming and both level.  Months down the road you’ll have politic heroes in 300s bringing in huge resources across all cities.  Secondly the heroes can be moved to main accounts.  You can keep these heroes unleveled and move at a later date or move them as they are.  Then lastly though these are farm cities they can help minimally with scouting, attacking and training.  I recommend having a semi decent hero that you rotate to train in all cities.  Remember these are farm cities so nothing too big.

Troops

Lots of different theories on this and believe me I’ve tried them all.  Here is what I’d recommend on my experiences.Evony Farming Troop Setup

  • 5k ballistas, enough to farm and defend against very small waves
  • 25k transports, assist in farming, enough to hide resources and transport a quarter billion.  I wouldn’t go much more then this unless you are frequently getting clogged up.  You need fairly minimal transports if you are cascading shipments which I will go into in a future post.
  • 5k workers, you should be closing flats around you.  Players who don’t often find their cities getting attacked more because they have flats all around them.  If you are not making npc5, what are you farming?  Remember it’s about maximizing resources.
  • 150k scouts, this is the easiest and quickest ways to take flats and valleys.  This also helps you use these cities as support cities for attacks as needed.  This is a more flexible alternative to using archers.

Walls

There wont be too much reason for you to have walls since this city is no designed to defend.  You may find that you need to defend a city at some point so I’d suggest having 100 traps/abatis set up in case you need a quick ranged defense.  I would make my walls either the rest trebs or pure trebs. This is avoidance of any honor and also drops your honor if you are hit.  Another great side is if you are hit you could win free items like teleports.

Gates

Keep your gates closed.  Do not give anyone any opportunity to kill your farm teams and stop your production.  Remember you can hide your resources and you have plenty of warehouses to help keep your troops from refuge.

Routing

The final and most important part of this is these are farm cities and therefor the resources/troops should constantly be routing out of reach of any attacker.  Make sure everything goes to one strong city.  This keeps resources out of reach therefore making you a non-target, someone not worth hitting.

Farming method

Especially in competitive farming fields you will want to farm in a tighter radius because you can simply get it faster and more often.  You want to hit every change you get regardless of it’s been 8 hours or not.  If you are constantly reaching your fields before others you maintain food and starve them out.  This is a great tactic and people typically leave in a hurry. Your heroes also level faster which means your fields produce better because you have strong politic heroes.  Last but not least, even though you may take a cut in resources in non competitive areas by farming in a tighter radius did you realize that npcs that are hit the least are cleared first during npcs resets?  Farm your closest npcs to you more and the odds of them getting deleted go down.  You continue to farm and keep others at a distance by farming tigher and more often.  Set up correctly and you’ll soon have enough resources to make you one of the biggest players on your Evony server.
